A Great Start!

I hope 2012 has been as good to all of you as it has to me!  What a GREAT  SUPER  FANTABULOUS (I do love that nonsense word) first week back to school.  The kids were wonderful... as wonderful as 8 year olds can be anyways!  We got a ton accomplished and I have been doing a great job sticking to my healthy eating and work out routine which has made me feel 8923458234905 times better!  I even stopped drinking soda this week (okay I had 3 sips of Mt. Dew this morning, but that's still way better than the 2 bottles a day I would drink before break).  Go me!

In case you were all wondering how my evidence binder turned out I went in for my "Summative Assessment" meeting at noon on Wednesday with my giant binder and came out at 2:30 knowing and being able to prove that I'm a good teacher and left with a better understanding of the new assessment (which I still don't think we should have to spend our time doing, but since I don't get to make the rules I now feel much better about).   Overall the meeting with my assistant principal was beneficial.  I got to sit down and look over the rubric that we're scored by phrase by phrase with my wonderful assistant principal and see exactly where I was doing well and where I need to make improvements.  I also got to ask about items that I could use for evidence if I was lacking it (only in a few places).  The binder that it ended up taking me a total of 10 hours to complete was only slightly looked through, sadly.  Apparently I need to start making anecdotal notes when my students are nice to each other and move furniture around the room on their own to be able to prove that this happens with evidence (even my 2nd graders thought that was crazy when they saw me writing this down and asking strange questions like "Where did you get that chair? ....no, no... you're not in trouble.  I was just wondering.") Lol!

I am in a much, much better mood after that meeting though.  So, sorry about the meltdown in the last post.  I can't promise it won't EVER happen again, but I can promise not to make it a routine thing.  c:  Y'all know how teaching is like a rollercoaster!

Do y'all even care to read about that kind of stuff?  Assessments and what not?  Just wondering.  I promise pinky promise I won't be offended if you say no!  If not I don't want to post about it, because I WANT MORE FOLLOWERS!  I'm ashamed I'm still in single digits!  How do I get more followers????  SOB That was intended to be my interpretation of Save Our Blog instead of Save Our Ship... nice.

So, on to MORE good news... I have been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award... THANK YOU ERIKA @ 2b Honey Bunch!!!!

The rules are to:
1. Thank the person who presented the award to you and link back to them....check!  I'll even add her button because it's so cute too!  c:

2. Tell seven things about yourself.
Okay... numero uno: I L.O.V.E. to read!  I read anything from kids' fantasy books like Harry Potter and Rick Riordan books to Dan Brown and books like The Kite Runner.  If only I could be a professional reader.

2.  I am one of those people that starts projects and then doesn't finish them.  I have SO many awesome ideas (thanks in part to all of you wonderful bloggers out there c: )  that I come up with something new I want to try before I can finish something else.

3.  I am also one of those people that actually enjoys exercising.  Not that I was disappointed when my trainer (Christmas present, whoop!  whoop!) told me today that 5 days in a row was too much and my body needs to take a break.  I happily said okay and strolled back out the door!  Lol!

4.  I should probably be on medication... according to my assistant principal, my family, and several teacher friends (I may be a little anxious and have some OCD tendencies... haha).  My boyfriend's dad always says, "Patricia, there are two types of people in this world: People who are on drugs and people who need to be on drugs."  Haha!

5.  My boyfriend and I will have been dating for 7 years come January 31st.  Phew!  That's a long time.  Why 7 years and not married? ....

6.  Our life is like a soap opera, in a crazy, spiraling, you'd never believe this happens in real life, tragic kind of way, but God only gives you what you can handle.  So, we're working our way through it!  (P.S. It's nothing life-threatening, so no worries).

7.  I go to get fitted for my sixth bridesmaids dress Sunday... always the bridesmaid, never the bride.  Luckily my friends and family have good taste, so I have a closet full of beautiful dresses!

3.  Pass this award on to 15 newly discovered blogs and let them know they've received the awards. ...Aaaahhhhh!!!  This is the hard part!  I am not a good blog stalker.  I feel like I have no time in my life and when I do find a blog I like and have a little time I read ALL of the posts from when the blog started to the last post (OCD tendencies, remember?)... which means I haven't gotten a chance to stalk to terribly many blogs.  So... my plan is to start with the blogs I know I want to pass this on to and I'll add to it as I have time to read more!  I hope that isn't just ridiculously rude in Bloggy World!  I don't want to offend anyone! ...I feel like such a slacker.  Lol.  So... the blogs (get the point Patricia sheesh C: )

Leanne @ Spend A Day in Second Grade

Okay... I'm off to go enjoy my weekend! I'll try to be back before it's over, but looking at that stack of papers to grade AND progress monitoring meetings next week... I don't know. I promise when I come back I'll have some activities and freebies (if someone will tell me how to upload documents... step-by-step, pretty please with sprinkles and a cherry on top!)  Enjoy your weekend friends!
